Of Flint, age 65, peacefully went home to be with Jesus, Sunday, April 17, 2011. The funeral service will take place 12:00noon, Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the North End Baptist Church in Mount Morris. Pastor Steve Windle and Pastor Michael Durbin will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and on Wednesday from 10:00am until 2:00pm and then from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. On Thursday morning, John will be taken to church to lie in state from 11:00am until the time of service at 12:00noon. Those desiring, please direct memorial contributions to the Huntington's Disease. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
John was born December 5, 1945 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joshua and LuluBelle (Gordon) Brady. He and Marjorie A. Bloom were united in marriage August 21, 1965.
John moved to Michigan to be with his soon to be wife, and to start his 39-year career with General Motors, retiring in 2005. John loved his family, and he and his wife lived happily ever after.
John was kind, gentle, and had incredible integrity. He dedicated his life to sports, in particular to wrestling. He touched countless lives in Genesee County, including at Kearsley High School and Powers Catholic High School. But he did not stop locallyhe also took many to the national level. He did not care where the kids came from or their ability, just that they came and had heart. He loved each of them as if they were his own.
John leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 45 years, Marge; four children, Traci Brady, Kimberly and husband, Scott Ward, Matthew and wife, Tammy Brady, and Jack Brady and fiancee, Rachael Reynolds; ten grandchildren, Lenee Szukent, Kyle and wife, Kayeloni Everhart, Mario Pool, Kyle Ward, Kayla Ward, Jared Everhart, Kelsey Ward, Parker Brady, Ethan Brady, and Briannah Brady; one great-grandson, Brody Everhart; four siblings, Josh and wife, Bonnie Brady, Ron Brady and special friend, Sue, Patty and husband, Gary Noga, and Jackie and husband, Harry Campbell; special friend, Brian Robertson; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Brady; nephew, Nick Wells; and father- and mother-in-law, John and Amanda Bloom.
