Obituary of Mary McCarthy

Of Clio, age 87, died on Divine Mercy Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Maple Woods Manor. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the All Saints Catholic Church in Flint. Rev. Fr. Anthony P. Majchrowski will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Tuesday night, family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 7:00 pm to pray the rosary. On Wednesday morning, Mary will be taken to church to lie in state from 9:00 am until the time of service at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the family fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Mary was born August 26, 1923 in Montrose, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher and Mary (Flanagan) Moran. She and Robert McCarthy were united in marriage in April 1970. Mary graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Mt. Morris in 1941. Mary's accomplishments include teaching, social work, and her many years as owner/broker for Marian Realty in Clio. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Ann O'Brien; sister-in-law, Margery Moran; and several nieces, nephews and good friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Robert; parents; and brothers, Charles and Edward.
