Obituary of Elizabeth Morse-Voelker

Of Flint Township, age 88, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at her home surrounded by family. Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will take place 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer, Michigan. Rev. Colin Stover and Rev. Fr. Thomas Butler will officiate. The family will be present at the church on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society or Avalon Hospice. Envelopes are available at the church.
Elizabeth "Lee" was born January 4, 1923 in Midlum, Friesland, The Netherlands the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Auke and Anneke (Piersma) DeHaan. The family immigrated to the United States eight months after her birth. She and John E. Morse were united in marriage on February 8, 1943; he preceded her in death in 1998. She and William A. Voelker were united in marriage on April 7, 2001; he preceded her in death in 2007.
Lee was a fifty-year member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Flint and volunteered for many years at Hurley Medical Center. A great lover of animals, she was a longtime supporter of the Genesee County Humane Society.
Lee leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Nancy and husband, Kim Schoeppach, and son, Richard J. Morse; grandson, Michael and wife, Annie Jones; granddaughter, Jennifer Nelson; four great-grandchildren, Kayla, Keith Jr., and Kaden Nelson, and Dana Jones; sister, Eiske Graham; special friends, Michael and Diane Kleinedler and Jay Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents; first husband, John E. Morse; second husband, William A. Voelker; and two brothers, William A. and Martin B DeHaan.
