Obituary of Martha Isabelle Hart

Passed away June 16, 2011, age 93, in Ithaca, NY. She was born in Jackson, MI, September 15, 1917, the only child of Lloyd E. Latta and Martha Samson Latta. She married Raymond C. Hart on September 14, 1940, in Jackson, Michigan. He predeceased her on December 11, 2002. Surviving are 4 sons, 5 daughters-in-law, 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren: Dr. Robert (Cynthia) Hart of Stockton, CA, and their children Ian (Alisha), Mara (Sean Kennedy), and Lauren; David (Natalie) Hart of Ann Arbor, MI, and Karen and Tanya (John Emley); Dr. Randall (Sally) Hart of Oskaloosa, IA, and Nathan (Stacy), Cynthia (Peter Bouchard) and Valerie; Jonathan (Marguerite) Hart of Ithaca, NY, and Emily and Chloe; Kathleen Hart, wife of son Lawrence Hart who died October 26, 2008, of St. Peters, MO, and their children Benjamin, Caroline, Colin, Hannah, Joshua, Adam, Jason, Abigail, and Samuel. Martha's great-grandchildren are Isabella and Peyton Hart (Ian and Alisha), Michael Emley, Julia Hart (Nathan and Stacy), and Allison and Jake Bouchard. The deceased was employed for years in the offices of Dr. Ralph Roeper, Dr. Arno Schury, Dr. James Shetlar and Dr. Edward Goyings, all of Frankenmuth. After retirement she was state coordinator for the Michigan Interstitial Cystitis Association and active in the Frankenmuth Friends of the Library. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vassar. Visitation will be Sunday, June 19, 5 to 8 p.m., and Monday, June 20, 9 to 10 a.m., at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar, with the funeral held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the same location. Interment will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery. Martha was a remarkable and loving woman and mother and will be missed by all of her family and friends. Her grandchildren knew her as the "hugging grandma."
