Obituary of Birdie Mae Ramsey

Of Mt. Morris, age 84, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Brian's House Hospice. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the North Flushing Baptist Church in Flushing. Pastor Dale Lewis will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Birdie's family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home Monday, 5:00pm to 8:00pm and Tuesday, 9:00am to 8:00pm. On Wednesday, Birdie will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Birdie was born June 4, 1927 in Vicksburg, Mississippi the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis and Edna (Franklin) Edwards. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to church, cooking and playing games. Birdie leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Donald, 10 children; Carla Carmer, Sue Gregory Harry (Teresa) Gregory, Timothy (Cathy) Gregory, James (Cheryl) Gregory, Ron Ramsey, Larry (Vickie) Ramsey, Bob (Beth) Ramsey, Deborah Ann (Jack) Hutchins and Cathy (Rick) Velat, 28 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, three brothers, James, David and Bannie Edwards and four sisters, Ada Hoffmaster, Clara Vaugh, Mary Bates and Cathy Foutch. Birdie was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Toffan Gregory, daughter, Edna Jo Gregory, son, Wendle Gregory and granddaughter, Dawn Mae Bocksnick, sister, Thelma and brother, Ellis.
