Obituary of Kenneth Schmidt

Of Fairgrove, age 68, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Brians House-Bay City. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Fairgrove United Methodist Church in Fairgrove. Reverend Daniel Gonder will officiate with burial to follow in Gilford Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm. On Monday morning, Kenneth will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to the Brian's House-Bay City or American Cancer Society or American Stroke Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Kenneth was born July 5, 1942 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert and Frances (Warren) Schmidt. He and Saundra Lyons were united in marriage May 27, 1966. Ken attended Fairgrove High School and graduated with the first graduating class of Akron-Fairgrove High School in 1960. He then proudly served his country with the United States Air Force, 66th Police Squadron in Europe from 1960-1963. After being honorably discharged, he worked for Saginaw Steering Gear for 30 years. Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 45 years, Saundra; two daughters, Angela and husband, Shawn Ryan and Jennifer and husband, Scott Altizer; son, George Neal Clemens; three granddaughters,Nicole Altizer, Nuala Ryan and Fineen Ryan; one grandson, Devlin; two brothers, Arthur and wife, Beverly Schmidt and Melvin and wife, Linda Schmidt; niece, Tina; and nephew, Tom. He was preceded in death by his parents.
