Of Clio, age 89 died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at home surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00am, Friday, May 9, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, with graveside Military Honors. Family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services on Thursday, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm. Thursday evening family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 6:00 pm for a Scripture Service. On Friday, Hank will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Church or Wellspring Lutheran Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Hank was born May 7, 1924, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Eleanor (Wierzbicki) Frania. He proudly served his county as a Corporal in the United States Army during World War II, where he worked as a Medic with a field artillery battalion, in the South Pacific. After his honorable discharge, he continued to serve his country as a Route Carrier for the United States Post Office, retiring with 34 years of service.
Hank married Bertha Ann Walt on May 13, 1950, in Flint, Michigan. He was a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association and the Foresters #1195.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Bertha; four children, Deborah and husband, Al Robinson, Cheryl and husband, Bill Kern, Mark and wife, Val Frania and Brian Frania; 31 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kay Lynn; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Gena and Crystal from the Lutheran Home and Kurrin from the Veteran's Hospital in Saginaw.
