Obituary of John Anthony Bove

Of Clio, age 72, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Avalon Hospice. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Monday, July 11, 2011 at the SS Charles & Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Rev. Fr. Tom Butler will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery, Wisconsin on Wednesday at 12:00 noon. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm. On Monday morning, John will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. John was born September 23, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Angeline (Dorsey) Bove. He and Helen Cogswell were united in marriage June 11, 1994. John was drafted into the United States Army in 1961. He served in the 19th Infantry, Germany, as a Sharpshooter and in the Drum and Bugle Corp. In 1966, he went on to work for General Motors, retiring in 1991. Throughout his life, John loved music. He started performing at a very young age, and later continued on to travel with established bands. Further, he played various small gigs, such as pit band work, dances, and weddings. John enjoyed playing with The Willie George Band the most. John and Helen has attended St. Charles and Helena Catholic Church since 1994. John leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 17 years, Helen; three step-children, Tim and wife, Vicki Cogswell, Dorine Liebengood and friend, Chris, and Brian and wife, Shannon Cogswell; six step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
