Obituary of Norma Jean Hesse

Norma passed away on Thursday July 28, 2011 after a courageous battle with ALS. She was born on June 23, 1934 in Dexter, MO daughter of Herschel Ross & Fleecie (Ross) Boone. Norma was employed at Michigan Bell Telephone Company for 31 years and retired in 1985. She married Charles Carl Jackson in 1952 who preceded her in death in 1982. She married second husband Bernard Hesse and they enjoyed 18 years of marriage, companionship and travel. Norma was a member of El Said Ladies Oriental Shrine of Flint and Le Dias Clown Unit (clown name Jelly Bean). She was an active volunteer at Genesys Hospital for many years. She moved to McKinney, TX in 2006 where she became a volunteer at McKinney Medical Center and was a proud Red Hat Lady. She loved to golf and travel the world. She is survived by her children: daughter Janice Shock & husband Rodney of McKinney, TX; daughter Jeanna Dunham & fiance Roland Benard of Cookeville, TN; son Richard Jackson & wife Mindy of Sugarland, TX; stepson George Hesse & wife Patrice of Pickerington, OH. Grandchildren: Andrea & Lydia Shock; Dustin & Alyssa Dunham; Ashley, Morgan, Emily & Rickey Jackson; Stephanie Frangos. Mother Fleecie Boone of Mt Morris, MI. Sisters: Glenda Ray of Mt. Grove, MO; Kay Tidball of Clio, MI; Mary Jo Ross of Flint, MI. Brothers: James Ross of The Woodlands, TX; Tom Ross of Mt. Morris, MI. Many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husbands Carl Jackson & Ben Hesse; and her father Herschel Ross. The funeral service will take place 1:00pm, Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00pm to 7:00pm. Family and Friends with gather at the funeral home Monday night for a Shriners memorial service at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, Norma and her family request donations to be made to the ALS Association (www.alsa.org) or the Shrine Hospital Burn Unit.
