Of Mt. Morris, age 81, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Genesys Hospice, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00am, Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Steven Makranyi and Rev. Fr. Francis Faraci will officiate with burial to follow in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. On Tuesday, at 7:30pm, family and friends will gather at the funeral home for a Vigil Service. On Wednesday morning, Kathleen will be take to church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of Mass at 11:00am. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to the North End Soup Kitchen. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Kathleen Olson was born September 28, 1929, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold and Ruth (Klinger) Olson. She was born in Everett, WA and grew up in Warroad, MN. She and Francis Ramiller were united in marriage June 21, 1949.
She attended Bemidji State College and St. Cloud State College in Minnesota, finally receiving the BA degree in Education from the University of Michigan-Flint. She taught three years at St. Agness Catholic School, a semester of St. Luke's Catholic School and 23 1/2 years with the Flint Board of Education. She spent four years teaching at Martin Elementary School and the rest of her teaching time at Garfield Elementary School.
Kathleen leaves to cherish her memory, five sons and four daughters; Charles (Wanda), John (Sandy), Teresa Becker (Larry Buggia), Daniel, Ruth Walker, Frank (Julie), Diane (Lee) Markham, Colleen (Larry) Snell, and Robert (Tammy); 23 grandchildren, Katrina, Geoffrey, Stacia, John, Amelia, Christina, Adam, Nathan, Erik, Lynne, Emily, Jake, Daniel, Shane, Allyson, Frank, Ben, Michelle, Brenda, Matt, Danielle, DeAnna, and Dominique; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mavis Davis; three brothers, Bob, Bill (Marlene) and George (Debbie) Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, Francis; infant son; and twin daughters.
