Dear Toni and Family:
It was with great sadness to learn of your mom's recent passing. So many fond memories flashed through my mind in that instant. You and your family hold a special place in my heart and in our childhood while growing up. We Hall kids made numerous trips to the corner store to pick up groceries and candy items that we wanted. Your mom (and dad) were always there to greet us kindly and to patiently serve our meager needs at the penny candy counter. Your mom always commented on how well my brother, David, would count out his change to pay for candy, chips or pop. She always seemed to have a kind word and a funny remark whenever we came by the store. I will remember most her laughter and enjoyment in spending time with friends. As the decades passed, I am truly glad that I stopped over some years back to see her and to inquire about you. I will never forget her reaction upon my introduction, "Hi, Mrs. Thomason. You may not remember me, but I am Faye Hall..." A burst of recognition and pleasure came over her and she openly welcomed me into her home like a long lost daughter. Although she has moved on, her memories will always live on, in our hearts, through her children and their children and so on. Whenever I drive by the house, I still look through the picture window, expecting to perhaps see her sitting in her chair, and I smile to myself inside. She was a kindly and gregarious woman with a spark and zest for life. Please accept my heartfelt condolences to you, your dad, your brother and the family, for your loss.
