Of Clio, age 77, died Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Brians House Hospice-Davison. The funeral service will take place 12:00 noon, Monday, August 17, 2009 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Mrs. Tina Lucas will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. BettyAaas family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00pm to 9:00pm and Sunday from 2:00pm to 9:00pm and on Monday at 11:00am until time of service at 12:00 noon Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the Genesee County Women and Children Shelter. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Betty was born December 30, 1931 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin and Cecelia (Arcond) Brogan. She and Ray were united in marriage in 1949; he preceded her in death in 1952. She then met David and they were married in 1953; he preceded her in death in 1996. She retired in 1994 from Flint Osteopathic Hospital as a dietary worker with 18 years service. For many years, Betty was a Union Steward and Trustee for A.S.M.E. Union Local #1850 - F.O.H. Betty followed in her fatherAaas footsteps in believing in her Union. Her father was Melvin H. Brogan, who was an original sit down striker at Fisher Body South End in 1931.
Betty was a prankster and generous. She enjoyed collecting magnets and orange tiger lillies. If Betty didnAaat smell soap, she would make you wash your hands again.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory her 4 children; Tonna, Dava Sue and husband, Dennis Matthews, Elvin and wife, Vicki, and James and wife, Donielle; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way; 3 sisters; Sylvia Jo and husband, Darrell Burrow, Rebecca and husband, Don Robarge and Crystal Brogan; several nieces, nephews and lots and lots of friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to longtime friends Linda Nowhiskey and Betty Landes and special niece, Tina Lucas.
She was preceeded in death by her husbands; Ray Riley and David E. Fowler; 2 children; Davalene Fowler and David E.J. Fowler Jr., parents; Melvin and Cecelia Brogan, Grace Brogan; 2 brothers; Melvin Brogan Jr. and William Brogan, and sister; Frances Latimore.
