Obituary of William Davis

Of Vassar, age 94, died Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Covenant Medical Center - Harrison. The funeral service will take place 1:00 pm, Monday, September 26, 2011, at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. Pastor Bruce Malicoat will officiate. William's family will be present at the funeral home on Sunday to receive friends from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. Those desiring direct memorial contributions to the Seaton Cancer Center of Saginaw. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Bill was born June 8, 1917, in Pinconning, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo and Rosa (Doonan) Davis. He and Patty Jean Thomas were united in marriage December 31, 1959, in Saginaw. She preceded him in death February 13, 2002. William held many occupations but retired as a Self Employed Contractor with The Saginaw News after 28 years on June 31, 2000, at the age of 83. He enjoyed, spending time with his family and friends; going out to dinner; and going to the Casino. Left to cherish his memory are, 11 children, Edward Wayne Davis; William Jean (Shawn Marie) Davis; Mary Jo Wager; Edward William Davis; Christina Mae Gavies; Danell (Robert) Rutherford; Geraldine Davis; Alonzo Davis; Patrick John (Laurel) Davis; Peggy Jo Armstrong; Hobert Allen (Jackoline) Baker; 42 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Margaret Davis; and numerous nieces; nephews and friends. William was preceded in death by parents; wife, Patty Jean; two sons, Clark and Delbert; and great-grandson, Nathaniel Baker.
