Obituary of Shirley A. Ross

Of Christmas, previously of Mt. Morris, age 75, died Sunday, October 2, 2011, at her home. Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will take place 1:00 pm, Monday, October 10, 2011, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Chaplain Goodman Cox will officiate. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Shirley was born January 13, 1936, in Corunna, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay and Goldie (Weller) Kirby. She and Dick Ross, Sr. were united in marriage September 25, 1955. Shirley was a very strong and thoughtful woman; she always put everyone else before herself. She was a loving mother and grandmother; Shirley will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory are, husband of 56 years, Dick, Sr.; four sons, Dick, Jr. and wife, Bonnie Ross, Timothy and wife, Donna Ross, Larry Ross and Michael Ross; five grandchildren, Amanda, Casey, Travis, Larry and Jeffrey; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Reva and husband, Bill Krause and Shelby and husband, T.J. Barnes; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Amie Ross; three sisters, Elaine Harper, Irma Weiderer and Dorothy Palmer; and two brothers, J.D. Kirby and Lloyd Kirby.
