Of Mt. Morris, age 57, died Saturday, October 15, 2011, at his home. The funeral service will take place 12:00 noon, Monday, October 24, 2011, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Cremation has taken place. Fr. Jay Gantz will officiate with burial to follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Scott's family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Monday from 9:00 am until time of service at 12:00 noon. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family fund or to Genesee County Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Scott was born February 17, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Shirley (Gross) Arvin, Sr. He and Ruth Herrick were united in marriage May 10, 1992, in Flint, Michigan. Scott proudly served in the United States Army for two years before receiving his Honorable Discharge on February 23, 1973. He worked at Ternstedt for 17 years before retiring in 1997. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his Harley with friends, camping, boating and being a handyman and a former member of the Spirit Riders MC.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruth; son, Jessie; daughter, Lisa (Jimmy Stratton) Outen; mother, Shirley Travarrow; sister, Dee (Larry) Zitchowic; three grandchildren, Kail, Josalyn and Kolton; mother-in-law, Blanch LaLonde; three sisters-in-law, Janet (Jon) Allett, Judy (Bob) Schroeder and Loretta (Gary) Stanke; two brothers-in-law, Mike (Lori) Herrick and Eddie (Gloria) Herrick; three special friends, Bob Weiss, Phil Wilson and Jerry Foster; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles; special buddy, Shadow, and special friend, Billy.
