Obituary of Thomas Archie McKay

Of Flint, age 87, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Hurley Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Pastor Carl Halquist will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services on Monday, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Tuesday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to the Trinity Assembly of God. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Archie was born December 6, 1923, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Lileth (Mallary) McKay. He and Margaret Elizabeth Marks were united in marriage November 26, 1950, in Flint, Michigan. Archie worked for Buick for 33.5 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the UAW #599. He was also an active member of the Trinity Assembly of God for many years. Archie leaves to cherish his memory, son, Rich McKay; grandson, Erik McKay; granddaughter, Erica McKay; three brothers, Carl H. and wife Joan McKay, Bishop William D. and wife Sandra A. McKay, Leonard L. McKay; and two sisters, Eleanor D. Hubbard and Mary Katherine Wetherford; brothers-in law, Donald Marks, Kenneth and wife Mary Marks, Paul and wife Dee Marks, Rev Leonard and wife Ruth Marks; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Menard McKay and Timothy McKay.
