Obituary of Julian M. Garcia

Of Burton, age 66, died Sunday, November 20, 2011, at Hurley Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Rev. Cecilio Reyna will officiate. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Wednesday, 11:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm. Family, friends and parish will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary Tuesday, at 7:00 pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Hurley Medical Center-Burn Unit. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Julian was born September 30, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Guadalupe and Rosa (Martinez) Garcia. Julian worked at General Motors-Buick for 33 years; he was also part of UAW Local #599. He will be remembered for being a family man, kind hearted and a jokster. Julian will be greatly missed. Left to cherish his memory are four children, Julian and wife, Julie Garcia, Jr., Augustine Garcia, David and wife, Wendy Garcia and Alice and husband, Pablo Montero; former wife, Yolanda Garcia; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Rosemary and husband, Jose Diaz; seven brothers, Rudy Garcia, Edward and wife, Elia Garcia, Guadalupe and wife, Nate Garcia, Raymond Garcia, Juan Garcia, Andrew and wife, Gloria Garcia and Jessie Garcia; brother-in-law, Ignacio Saldivar; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Saldivar.
