Of Mt. Morris, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 23, 2009. The funeral service will take place 1:00pm, Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Bill Downer will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Joyce's family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00am until time of service at 1:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Zion Church of the Brethren. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Joyce was born June 25, 1925 in Detroit, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin and Murl Marie (Eplin) Rowe. Murl Marie died while giving birth to Joyce. At 3 months old, Joyce was taken in, cared for and raised by William Harvey and Malinda Good who she loved deeply as her Papa and Mama, and also all of the Good children she considered as her brothers and sisters. She and Louis Best were united in marriage on October 23, 1958 in Flint. He preceded her in death in 1995. Joyce worked for General Motors for 15 years before retiring in 1980, and was a member of UAW Local #659. She was also a member of the Zion Church of the Brethren in Prescott. Joyce enjoyed crocheting, reading and crafts.
Joyce leaves to cherish her memory three children, Richard (Karen) Martin, Sonya (Gerald) Illig and Vickie Whitney; four grandchildren, Bryan, Shannon, Lilly and Greg; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Dean Rowe of California; sister-in-laws, Corrine Good and Delores Good both of Prescott, Michigan; many nieces nephews and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Papa and Mama Good, husband, Louis, 11 brothers and sisters, her beloved companion, Harley Poo.
