Obituary of Donald L. Finch

Of Mt. Morris, age 74, died Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am, Monday, November 28, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Sunday evening, family, friends and parishioners will gather to pray the Rosary at 5:00 pm, followed by a K of C Holy Family Council #4285 3rd Degree and Leon J. Satkowiak 4th Degree Assembly # 0524 Chalice Ceremony. On Monday, Don will lie in state at St Marys Church from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be considered to the Knights of Columbus to establish a Roof Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Donald was born February 5, 1937 in Farwell, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence and Viola (Castle) Finch. He and Yvonne (LeDuc) Finch were united in marriage on February 18, 1956 in Clio, Michigan, at St. Charles and Helena Church. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Yvonne; two daughters, Wendy husband, Donald Allan and Susan husband, Warren Birkenhauer; and son Christopher wife, Janine Finch, and seven grandchildren. Don worked for the Mt. Morris Consolidated Schools for 28 years in maintenance and as a bus driver, retiring in 1997, where he is fondly remembered by many students that he crossed paths with. He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church since 1961. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Family Council 4285. He will be greatly missed especially for his humor at the FISH FRY. He was preceded in death by his parents.
