Obituary of Donald Thomson Tabbert

age 85 of Mt. Morris died on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Melody Care Pines Home in Flint. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Deacon Michael Dear will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends a the funeral home on Friday, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Saturday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to the Genesee County Humane Society, envelopes are available at the funeral home. Don was born October 26, 1928, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil and Eloise (Thomson) Tabbert. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1948, before proudly serving his country in the United States Army, until his Honorable Discharge. Don worked for Louis Shegoes Modern Market, before going to work at Slattery Pharmacy until his retirement. Left to cherish his memory are sister, Jean and husband, Bill Slattery; nieces and nephews, Michael and wife, Cherryl Slattery, David and wife, Roxanne Slattery, Dennis Slattery, Ann and husband, Dale Killian, Paula and husband, Terry Daniel, Bill and wife, Charlotte Slattery, Mary and husband, Scott Hoyt, Andy and wife, Debbie Tabbert, George and wife, Amy Tabbert and Robert Tabbert. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Robert and wife, Georgia Tabbert and Jerry Tabbert. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Larry and Kim Noyce and their staff at Melody Pines for the exceptional care given to Don.
