Of Mt. Morris, age 82, died Friday, December 16, 2011 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Monday, December 19, 2011 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Robert McKeon and Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will con-celebrate the Mass, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Sunday afternoon family and friends will gather to celebrate and remember Ed's life from 2pm until 7pm with readings at 4pm. On Monday, Ed will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be considered to The Corcoran House of Holy Cross Children's Services or The Mayo Clinic. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Ed was born December 19, 1928 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George and Mary (Flynn) Corcoran. He and Faith Larkin were united in marriage April 24, 1948 in Mt. Morris. Ed founded Wolverine Fire Protection in 1958 and continued as Chairman of the Board until his death. All eleven of his sons worked for Wolverine and the 3rd generation is now poised to continue it's previous success. Ed will always be remembered as the Patriarch of the family and the business. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, the Knights of Columbus # 4285.
Ed leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 63 years, Faith, 11 sons, John and wife, Dianne, Steve and wife, Chris, Matt and wife Sue, Paul and wife, Mary Sue, Tom and wife, Connie, Mark and wife Karen, Pat and wife, Sue, Marty, Luke and wife, Tina, Tim and wife, Carmen and Ed and wife Maryanne; 33 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ellen Rousseau, brother, Jim and wife, Barbara Corcoran, sister, Sharon and husband, Dan Pfeiffer, brother, Dan and wife, Diane Corcoran, and sister, Shirley Corcoran and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Michael Corcoran; five brothers, Francis, Raymond, Mike, George and Cleon; and sister, Mary Theresa.
