Norma was born November 21, 1922, in Kayford, West Virginia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Ethel (Darby) Wilson. She and Carl Spence were united in marriage January 24, 1939, in Kayford, West Virginia. Norma was a "coal miner's daughter" born and raised in Kayford , West Virginia. She worked hard with no time for fun as a child. She was able to bring up her family during hard times and provide them with a home. Her faith never waivered in God no matter her hardships. She was compassionate for people, always gave when she didn't have to give and was never afraid to show her love with her generous hugs and kisses. She was always requested to sing at funerals and everyone's favorite was "Just a closer walk with Thee."
Norma leaves to cherish her memory, son, Charles D. and wife, Irene Spence; daughter, Patricia Ann and husband, Douglas Bloomfield; daughter-in-law, Sandra Spence; six grandchildren, Rose Morgan, Charlene Spence, David Spaulding, Lisa Wagner, Sam Spence and Susan Hradecky; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one sister, Leona Stanley; three brothers, Carl, Clarence and Jimmy Wilson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; son, Henry Spence; and seven brothers.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Staff of Maplewoods Manor for the excellent care and love they gave to Norma.
