Obituary of Margaret F. Schwerin

Age 90, of Mt. Morris went to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 20, 2014, in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was born on July 3, 1923, to William and Florence (Sting) Schwarzkopf in Sebewaing, Michigan. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School and Flint Central graduating in 1941. After graduation she attended Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, Illinois, where she met her husband Walter singing in the choir. They were united in marriage on June 21, 1947. They moved to Flint in 1955 and had four wonderful sons. She attended Our Savior Lutheran Church for nearly 60 years where she shared her love of the Lord by singing in the choir, serving in the altar guild and teaching Sunday school. Her family owned Beecher Lumber Company and Mt. Morris Lumber Company. Left to cherish her memory are sons, "Buz" (Walter III), Bill, Bob (Marie) and Dan Schwerin; grandchildren, Amy (Chad) Marcotte, Gina (Shawn) Abinet, Rob, Andrew, Sarah (Robert) Dorcey, Daniel and Rachel Margaret; 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; cousins; and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 40 years Walter Schwerin; sisters, Dorothy Michelon Wesoleck and Marie McClure. The funeral service will take place Friday, February 28, 2014, at 11:00 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church Pastor Randy Schultz will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm then on Friday, at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service. Memorial donations may be directed to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
