Of Mt. Morris, age 85, died Friday, December 23, 2011, at Avalon Hospice. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Morris. Pastor Alonzo Vincent will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home Monday, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Tuesday morning, Virginia will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Humane Society or Charity of Choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Virginia was born September 16, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Helen (VanZanten) Schmidt. She and Harrison Daggett were united in marriage August 16, 1947; he preceded her in death September 8, 1977.
Virginia was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Morris, a member of Mt. Morris Chapter O.E.S. # 474 and a member of the Lady Oriental Shrine of North America.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Dennis and wife, Sheila; grandchildren, Denise Cox, Kimberly Dancer and husband, Rob, Denelle Kruszka and husband, Tim, Michael Daggett, Jeanine and husband, Larry Sapelak, Suzanne Weinert and husband, Bert and Travis Myatt; many great-grandchildren; brother, Walter and wife, Jaque Schmidt; sister, Donna Elliot; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and dog, Coco.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 30 years, Harrison M. Daggett; great-grandson, Ryan Cox; sister, Betty and husband, Norv Dunlap; and brother-in-law, Bob Elliott.
