Obituary of Philip Britt Watkins

Philip Britt Watkins Of Mt. Morris, age 61, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at his home. The funeral service will take place at the Miles Martin Funeral Home on Monday, August 31, 2009, at 12:00pm. PhilipAaas family will receive friends on Sunday, from 11:00am to 8:00pm, and Monday, from 10:00am until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Pastor Jim Combs will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Philip was born August 27, 1947 in Jonesboro, Arkansas the fifth child of Mr. and Mrs. Vopel and Velma (Britt) Watkins. He and Shelley Winona Bergey were united in marriage Octotber 9, 1975, in Flint, Michigan. Philip worked in the sanitation department for General Motors, retiring in 1996 after 30 years of employment. Philip enjoyed many things such as, his motorcycle, being around buddies from work, reading the Bible, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and most of all he loved to have fun. Philip leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 33 years Shelley, his parents, Velma and Vopel, three children; Philip Jr. and his wife, Necole, Larry, Summer and husband, Todd, six grandchildren; Ashley, Aubrey, Felicia, Curtis, Ryser, and Hudson; seven brothers and sisters, Sandra, Kim, Ann, Kent, Don, Buddy, and Chick. Philip was preceded in death by; his sister, Kathy Lacey. The Family would like to send a special thanks to all of the help at Heartland Hospice.
