Obituary of Andrew Howard Huggler

Of Genesee, age 91, died Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Genesys Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, February 16, 2012, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Karen Williams will officiate with cremation to follow. Burial will take place at a later date, in Alpena, Michigan. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Thursday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial donations to the Genesee United Methodist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Andy was born September 10, 1920, in Alpena, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew and Margaret (Zenger) Huggler. He and Marjorie Aikens were united in marriage September 12, 1942. He and his brother, Eldon owned and operated Huggler Brothers in Genesee from 1950, until his retirement in 1987. Andy went on to sell real estate for 15 years for Dave Huggler Realty. He was a member of Genesee United Methodist Church for over 60 years, the Genesee Lions for over 45 years, a Genesee Township Volunteer Fireman for 20 years, a Genesee Township Board Member for 4 years, and a member of the Flint Power Squadron for 20 years. Andy leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 69 years, Marge; two daughters, Bonnie and husband, Dave Horsfield and Doris Hipps; four grandchildren, Shannon and husband, Jasan Bryan, Keir and wife, Kim Horsfield, Stacy and husband, Tom Wilson and Erik Horsfield; six great-grandchildren, Connor, Ally, Maddy, Katelyn, Brantly and Brook, sister, Doris Turnbull; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Bill Hipps; 7 sisters and 3 brothers.
