Obituary of Helen Sprague

Of Akron, age 74, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Covenant Health Care- Cooper. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Fairgrove. Rev. Leonard A. Astrowski, Jr. will officiate with burial on Thursday, at 1:30pm in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Helen's family will be present on Tuesday at the Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove to receive friends from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Wednesday Helen will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Covenant Cooper. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Helen was born December 29, 1937, in Grand Island, Nebraska the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Alvina (Schomburg) Brandt. She and Duane H. Sprague were united in marriage July 05, 1955, in Lincoln, Nebraska. She graduated from Walbach, Nebraska School District, Class of 1954. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, attending church, camping, cooking and gardening. Left to cherish her memory, are husband, Duane; four children, H. Duane and wife, Denise, Alan and wife, Karen, Cynthia and husband, James Garvin and Bryan and wife, Kathy; 7 grandchildren, Staci, Melissa, Jeremy and wife, Aly, Matthew, Jessica, Meghan and Katie; 4 great-grandchildren, Mason, Brendan, Emili and Jeffrey; brother, Mel and wife, Joann; sister-in-law, Nita and husband, Ron and several nieces, nephews and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Harry Brown, in-laws, aunt, Martha and uncle, August.
