Of Mt. Morris, age 88, died Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Maple Woods Manor. The funeral service will take place 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Walt Rose will officiate with burial to follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, April 17, 2012, from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Wednesday, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Bethel Baptist Church or Charity of Choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Mildred was born April 8, 1924, in Beech Grove, Arkansas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Ethel (Horne) Russom. She and Beryl James Roberts were united in marriage August 23, 1941; he preceded her in death November 15, 1979. Mildred worked for Turnstedt for 25 years; retiring in 1980. She attended Bethel Baptist Church, and was recently honored as the longest standing member of the church. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and sewing; she will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are son, Jerry and wife, Pricilla Roberts; daughter, Barbara Wolverton; six grandchildren, Wayne and wife, Brenda Roberts, Teresa and husband, Donald Gillett, Jeanette and fiance, Jeffery Stoltenberg, Michael and wife, Kim Wolverton, Kendra and husband, Mark Elmer, and Karla and husband, Joseph Plos; 15 great-grandchildren, James and Monica Roberts, Ryan, Lindsay, and Chelsea Gillett, Hope, Cassidy, and Zachary Wolverton, Caleb, Autumn, Bailey, and Abigail Elmer, and Kaylee, Austin, and Brandon Plos; one sister, Lavona Huckabee; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband of 38 years, Beryl; four siblings, Milton, Waylen, Earlene, and Reba; and son-in-law, William Wolverton.
