Of Mt. Morris, age 85, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at home surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian burial will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, April 21, 2012, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 pm to 9:00pm. On Friday evening, parish, family and friends will gather to pray the Rosary at 6:00pm. On Saturday, Gloria will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to the McLaren Hospice-Davison or St. Mary Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Gloria was born April 30, 1926, in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram and Hazel (Beatenhead) Wright. She and Larry Laux were united in marriage October 5, 1946 in Flint. She was a longtime, active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a devoted wife, mom and grandma and she enjoyed knitting, traveling and golf.
Left to cherish her memory five daughters, Cheryl Langworthy, Jeannine Severn, Diane and husband Randy Long, Julie and husband Chuck Carter, Lori and husband Darrel Crossen; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; soon-to-be born twin great-granddaughters; brother-in-law, Robert Ricketts; three sisters-in-law, Jean Laux, Vera Wagner and Suzanne Snyder; many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; brother, Robert Wright; sister, Joyce Ricketts; sons-in-law, Kelly Langworthy and Bud Severn; and special friend, Jean Lewis.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jaina and Chiquita from McLaren Hospice and Donya and Rita from Comfort Keepers.
