Age 90, of Mt. Morris died Monday, March 3, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Cremation has taken place. There are no services scheduled. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the family. Evelyn Witt was born July 6, 1923 in Minnesota, the daughter Mr. and Mrs. Claude E. and Ruby (McNeely) Witt. As a child she was known as a "tom boy" on the family farm. Evelyn met her husband James W. Keeley at Hoover High School where they both attended and later were married. Sadly he preceded her in death in 1999. She was a Supervisor at AC Sparkplug and retired in 1982. Evelyn was a past member of the American Legion on Carpenter Road and the Voiture 40 & 8 Chateau. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to casino's. She also enjoyed making ceramics especially dolls; she sewed many items including clothing for the dolls she made. She loved going to Las Vegas and up north to fish. Her family will remember her as being a survivor and hard worker. She survived cancer twice and was run over by a semi. She let the driver of the semi know how upset she was that he ruined her thermos. She could also be found watching the Price is Right, listening to old country and classical music. Evelyn really loved spending time with her grandkids. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Veida Comer and Hope (William) Stebbins; daugher-in-law, Lori Keeley; multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and best friend Ilene. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, son Michael James Keeley, grandsons Curtis Keeley and Nathan Pollard, granddaughter Tracey Keeley; brothers, LaVern Witt and Jimmy Witt, sisters, Elsie Phillips, Geneva Lawson, and Claudia Rushton. The family would like to thank Hurley Hospital for all their compassionate care.
