Obituary of Laurence Paul Carter

Entered into God's Kingdom, Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at his home with several family members by his side at the age of 84. Laurence was born December 1, 1927, in Tuscola, Michigan, to Gordon and Pearl (Shaw) Carter, step-dad, Joseph Mate Jouitz and step-mom, Mary Carter. He attended Tuscola and Vassar Schools. On February 12, 1949, he married Nadine Carter of Otter Lake, Michigan. She preceded him in death on February 29, 2008.
Larry enjoyed bowling, playing cards, golfing, baseball and loved going to garage sales and flea markets. He loved collecting memorabilia of Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Hopalong Cassidy, Lone Ranger and Shirley Temple. He had many automobiles and loved restoring them. He was fun to be with, loved making people laugh, very caring and was the first to lend a helping hand. Larry had a very easy going personality. He loved watching his westerns on TV. Larry worked for Buick in Flint, Michigan, for 24 years before retiring in January 1988.
Larry is survived by five children, Linda and Gene Kennard of Burton, Debra and Edward Lesko of Mayville, Mark Carter of Reese, Ronald Carter and Trisha of Mayville and Raymond and Pam Carter of Millington; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at the Martin Funeral Home - Vassar. Pastor Ed Kyle will officiate with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Larry's family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home-Vassar on Monday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial contributions to the family fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald and sister-in-law, Mary, sister, Barbara, grandson, Steven and great-grandson, Jayden.
