Obituary of Dorothy Elizabeth Schaffer

Of Mt. Morris, age 86, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Avalon Hospice. The funeral mass will take place at 11:00 am, Friday, July 6, 2012, at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate. Dorothy's family will be present at St. Mary Catholic Church to receive friends from 10:00 am until time of mass at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers direct memorial contributions to the Emmanuel Prayer Group. Dorothy was born March 9, 1926, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rees and Dorothy (Witchell) Lloyd. Dorothy graduated from Bendle High School Class of 1943. While married to Edward Schaffer, she spent 20 years traveiling throught the U.S and England. She was a manager for Woolco in Flint until their closing and a manager at Goodwill. Dorothy lived for her faith in God and spent a life time helping others. In her free time loved spending time with family and friends, praying with the Emmanuel Prayer Group, attending St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, volunteering at St. Luke's New Life Woman's Center, arts & crafts, gardening, spending time outdoors and was an excellent seamstress and listener. Left to cherish her memory, four children, Barbara and husband, John Petak, Frank and wife, Sara Schaffer, David Schaffer, Catherine Gillette; two grandchildren; Arielle Schaffer and Garrett Gillette; three siblings, Marion Noblin, Eddie and wife, Ruth Ann Lloyd, Shirley and husband, Harold Seymour, Bob and wife, Judy Lloyd, friends from the Emmanuel Prayer Group and St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, Bill Lloyd, Pat Fullwood Don Lloyd and husband of 30 years, Edward Schaffer.
