Obituary of Robert F. West

Of Clio, age 87, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Maple Woods Manor. Cremation has taken place. Burial of cremated remains will take place Thursday, August 2, 2012, promptly at 1:00 pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Robert was born July 7, 1925, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Ruby (Oaks) West. Robert worked his entire life as a carpenter, primarily building houses in Flint and the surrounding area. In his free time, Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing in northern Michigan and Canada. He also worked for a church furniture shop in Kawkawlin and built hydroplanes for races all over the U.S. He was a licensed pilot and flew the planes he built, himself. Robert leaves to cherish his memory, four children, Bonnie and husband, Jim Arendt, Donna Roster, Brenda Dowland, and Randy and wife, Sheri West; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marion Henry and Ruth Ann Ennis; and one brother, Howard West. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Robert James West; and brother, Donald West.
