Obituary of Marguerite J. Kowitz

Marguerite J. Kowitz age 98, of Vassar, died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Frankenmuth Tender Care. The funeral will take place Monday, March 10 at 11:00 am at Juniata Baptist Church in Vassar. Pastor Lyle Ohman will officiate with burial to follow in Watertown Township Cemetery. Marguerite's family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar on Sunday March 9, 2014 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm and on Monday at the church from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may make contributions to the Juniata Baptist Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Marguerite was born December 3, 1915 in Lapeer Co. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle and Flossie (Huntley) White. She worked for General Motors in production until her retirement in 1971. She married Ward Kowitz May 29, 1933 in Juniata, sadly he preceded her in death in 2002. Marguerite enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing and attending the Golden Years dinners and playing euchre. She also loved to watch the Tigers play and go to the Vassar Eagles Club. Marguerite and Ward enjoyed their time in Florida where they wintered for 12 years. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter June Kowitz, sister-in-law Viola Phelps and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ward, sisters Mabel Fowler and Madeline Dickerson. Friends and family may share a memory at martinfuneralhome.com
