Obituary of John Maguire

Of Caro, age 74, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at Covenant Health Care-Harrison in Saginaw. The funeral service will take place 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 4, 2014, at the Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove. Rev. Michele Hile will officiate with burial to follow in Juniata Township Cemetery, in Watrousville. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 3, 2014, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Saturday 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Tuscola County Humane Society or the Ronald McDonald House. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. John was born November 30, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, the son Mr. and Mrs. Claude and Elizabeth (Hodges) Maguire. John graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1958. He worked for Eaton Foundry for 10 years. He was a member of the Vassar Eagles FOE 2380 and Loyal Order of the Moose Caro Lodge #1049. John enjoyed playing euchre, socializing, going to the Vassar and Caro Eagles and resting by the pond under the shade tree. He loved his red cars and his midnight snack. John especially enjoyed spending time with his family at family gatherings. Left to cherish his memory are his children; Lonnie (Sandy) Maguire, Stacie (Joe) Green, and DeeAnn (Jill) Maguire; grandchildren Katie, Amanda, and Brittany Maguire; Jason and Jack Green; great grandson Wyatt Parks; brother Ed Maguire and sister Lil McAlpine; the mother of his children Carolyn Maguire and former wife Ruth Stevens; nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Glen (Pat) Maguire and infant brother Frank.
