Obituary of William J. Rushford

Of Bridgeport, age 83, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Tendercare Health Care Center of Frankenmuth. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, August 27, 2012 at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm and on Monday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Reverend James A. Smith will officiate with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Frankenmuth United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. William was born September 21, 1928 in Gould City, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Olive (LaLonde) Rushford, Sr. He and Grace Ada Rushford were united in marriage July 19, 1947 in Marquette. William worked as an engineer for Heileman's Brewery in Frankenmuth until July 10, 1990 when it closed. He enjoyed fishing, making valance boards and woodworking. Left to cherish his memory are wife, Grace (Peterson) Rushford; children, Gary and wife Peggy Rushford, Dale Rushford, Dave and wife Laura Rushford, Mike Rushford, Neal and wife Heather Rushford, and Denise and husband Chris Rezler; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Lyle and wife Bernetta Rushford; many nieces, nephews and friends. William was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Emery Rushford.
