Obituary of Bessie Elizabeth Mary Kanyok

Of Vassar, age 86, died Sunday, August 26, 2012, at The Lutheran Home in Frankenmuth. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, August 30, 2012, at the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar. Rev. Fr. Bob Byrne will officiate with burial to follow in Tuscola Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm. On Wednesday evening, family and friends will gather at the funeral home for a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm. Thursday morning, Bessie will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Frankenmuth Lutheran Home Activities Department. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Bessie was born September 25, 1925, in Owendale, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve and Mary (Szelapi) Kocsis. She and Alex Kanyok were united in marriage March 10, 1942. She was an active member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Left to cherish her memory are her children, JoAnn Acord, Ethel and husband Robert Blackmer, Janet and husband Gary Taggett, Ron and wife Cheryl Kanyok and Tom and wife Diane Kanyok; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alex; two brothers, Steve and John; and son-in-law, Owen.
