Obituary of Marian R. Thorne

Of Clio, age 86, died Monday, August 27, 2012, at Cranberry Park Assisted Living. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, August 30, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris in Mt. Morris. Pastor Mark Conn will officiate with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Thursday, Marian will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be considered to the National Leader Dog for the Blind or First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Marian was born July 21, 1926, in Watertown Township, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence and Lula (Elliott) Rich. She and Kenneth Thorne were united in marriage November 2, 1945. She was an active member at First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. She and Ken were members of the International Flying Farmers as well as the Michigan Chapter. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Kassandra and husband, Dexter Ellison, and Susan Lavery and partner, Brian Jakubczyk; three grandchildren, Kenneth and wife, Amy Ellison, Keith and wife, Michelle Ellison, and Katharine Ellison; two great-grandchildren, Dustin and Gunner Ellison and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth in 1988; and sister, Nola Earls. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Staff of Cranberry Park Assisted Living and the Staff of Heartland Hospice for the excellent care given to their mother.
