Obituary of Roy Carl Coenen

Of Mt. Morris, formerly of Illinois, age 82, died Friday, August 31, 2012, at McLaren-Flint. The funeral service will take place 12:30 pm, Friday, September 14, 2012, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with burial to follow in Crestwood Cemetery with Graveside Military Honors conducted by Flint Marine Corps League Detachment # 155 Honor Guard. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 14, 2012, from 11:30 am until time of service at 12:30pm. Memorial donations may be considered to your local Ducks Unlimited. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Roy was born February 28, 1930, in Mt. Morris, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen and Minnie (Bagley) Coenen. He worked for Illinois Power Company as a gas manager for 35 years, until his retirement. Roy proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League. Left to cherish his memory is four children, Julie and husband, Richard Day, of Sullivan, IL, Janice Coenen, of Madison, WI, Jacqueline Coenen-Johnson and husband, Dale Johnson of Decatur, IL, and Matthew Mahon of Flushing, MI; three granddaughters; several great-grandchildren; and brother, Dale Coenen, of New York. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
