Obituary of Shirley Ethel Gilmore

Of Vassar Township, age 80, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at Covenant Medical Center Aa" Harrison in Saginaw. The funeral service will take place 12:00noon, Friday, September 18, 2009, at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. Rev. David Wermuth will officiate with burial to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 17, 2009, from 12:00noon to 8:00pm, and again on Friday from 10:00am until the time of service at 12:00noon. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Family Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Shirley was born June 1, 1929, in Bay City, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar and Ethel (Price) Fox. She and Ralph Gilmore were united in marriage on January 15, 1949. Shirley was a school bus driver for the Reese Public School District and Vassar Public Schools. Shirley enjoyed playing cards, watching her hummingbirds, fishing in her younger days, and camping. Shirley was a caring mother, had a good sense of humor, and loved being around her grandchildren. Shirley leaves to cherish her memory three sons; Dale Gilmore and wife Anet, Daniel Gilmore and special friend Sherry, Gene Gilmore and wife Bethanie, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, brother; Norm Jay, sister-in-law; Connie Fox, many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Ralph, son; Glenn, brothers; Charles Jay, Harold Jay, Don Jay, and Neil Fox, sister; Jennie Fales.
