Obituary of Mary D. Shanks

Of Mt. Morris, age 91, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Tendercare Health Care Center of Frankenmuth. The funeral service will take place 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Dan Louman will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Saturday, from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm. Memorial contributions to may be directed to Tendercare Activities Department. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mary was born March 20, 1921 in Peru, Indiana, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron and Bertha (Foreman) Keeport. She and James Shanks were united in marriage February 9, 1944. Mary worked for Woolco for 14 years as a clerk. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 68 years, James, daughter, Jimie Williams and husband, Don Gardner, and son Morris and wife Rosanne Shanks; six grandchildren, Sean M. and wife, Heather Williams, Clare James and wife, Tiffanie Williams, Ryan James and wife, Lisa Shanks, Jason Edward Shanks and fiancee, Melissa Etten, Aaron Jon Shanks and Kaylyn Marie Shanks; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frederick; sister, Anna Lee and granddaughter, Baby Shanks.
