Obituary of Eugene F. Wischmeyer

Of Vassar, age 81, died Thursday, September 13, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital. Eugene "Gene" was born June 9, 1931 in Shepherd, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Emma (Wieferich) Wischmeyer. He and Gladys Barker were united in marriage June 20, 1953. Gene worked for Super Foods for 42 years, retiring in 1992. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Gladys; three children, Douglas and wife, Helen, Greg and wife, Cheryl and Jan and husband, Mike Kelly; six grandchildren, DJ, Ryan, Sarah, Allison, Nicole and husband, Nathan and Hailey; five siblings, Paul and wife, Sue, Delores Cearley, Eileen and husband, Don Horstman, Robert and wife, Donna, Kathryn and husband, Mike Daymon; sisters-in-law, Margaret and husband, Dick Clevenger and Betty Wischmeyer, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, Neil and wife, Ruth, Victor, Raymond and wife, Myrna, Sonny and wife, Jeanne, Sil and Alberta and husband, Lyle Fillhard. The Life Celebration will take place 11:00 am, Monday, September 17, 2012, at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. His son, Greg Wischmeyer will officiate with cremation to follow. Private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with an Eagles Service at 7:00pm. Monday family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Mary's Saginaw Seton Cancer Institute.
