Obituary of Verle R. Ballard

Of Flint, age 93, died Friday, October 19, 2012. A memorial service will take place 2:00pm, Monday, October 22, 2012, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Verle's family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Verle was born May 7, 1919, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russel and Mary (Hart) Ballard. He and Mary Pagac were united in marriage in Ashland, Virginia, on July 31, 1943. Verle graduated from Flint Central High School Class of 1937. He worked as a truck driver for Roadway for 20 years before retiring in 1979. Verle enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping with the Holiday Rambler RV Club HRRVC, ocassional golfer, long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Flint. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 69 years; Mary; children, Verle Jr. and wife Sue Ballard, Dale and wife Linda Ballard, Patricia and husband Dave Withey; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Verle was preceded in death by his parents; older brother, Stanley Ballard; half-brother, Al Benn, close uncle, Bill Ballard.
