Of Mt. Morris, age 83, passed Monday, October 22, 2012 in her home surrounded by loved ones. She made the decision to make an anatomical donation to the University of Michigan Medical School, in light of her having Pulmonary Fibrosis. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society. Sara was born August 14, 1929 in Flint, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Feddie and Alta (McDaniel) Reed. She and James Larkin were united in marriage August 18, 1956. Their family would later expand to include six children and their spouses. Sara worked at Fisher Body on Coldwater Rd. for 31 years before retiring. She enjoyed playing BINGO and Eucher with friends, and was a member of the Eagles Aerie # 3485, the American Legion Post # 158, and the Moose Club Lodge # 2426. Sara was a huge Tigers fan with a great sense of humor, and was always known for her baked beans. She enjoyed spending time with her great-grandson, Aiden and other family members. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 56 years, James; children, Stephanie (Dave) Mount, David (Kathy) Larkin, James II (Melody) Larkin, and Stacie (Jonathan) Moody; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Geoff, Cristal, Sara, James III, Josh, Adam (Trisha), Derek, Alannah, and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Lacie, Madelyn, Landin, Zachary, Snoe, and very special great-grandson, Aiden; special friends, Chris McElyea, Mary Rosencrants, and Ben and Betty Konoski; siblings, Robert Reed, Gay Grover, and Merry Higgins and many special friends from the Moose Club. Sara was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wilson and Fred; children, Douglas and Kelley Helene; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and her four-legged kid, Toy. The family would like to thank McLaren Hospice as well as the medical staff in the ER and 12th floor at McLaren Hospital for their special care and support.
