Obituary of Robert Richard Harris

Of Mt. Morris, age 80, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 25, 2012, at home. The funeral service will take place 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at the Home Baptist Church in Mt. Morris. Pastor Daniel Gordon will officiate with burial to follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Home Baptist Church 8475 N. Saginaw Street Mt. Morris, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Wednesday, from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Home Baptist Church. Envelopes are available at the church. Robert was born April 15, 1932 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and Ethel (Cooper) Harris. He and Geraldine Miller were united in marriage July 28, 1962. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy and Airforce. He worked for Buick for 31 years, retiring on October 1, 1996. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Gerry; two children, Karon and husband, Tom Krause and Rich and wife, Brenda Harris; five grandchildren, Thomas and wife, Megan, Carolyn and husband, Austin, Ricky, Sabrina and Zack, five great-grandchildren, Mia, Madison, Owen, Rocket and Alice; brother, Ken and wife, Pat; two sisters, Daisy and husband, Roland Knickerbocker and Roberta and husband, Carl King; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by parents; grandson, Joshua; and three brothers and two sisters.
