Obituary of Klara A. Carraher

Of Mt.Morris, age 88, died Sunday, October 28, 2012 at her home. The funeral service will take place Wednesday, October 31, at 11:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Martin Funeral, Cremation, and tribute services in Mt. Morris. Klara will be taken to church to lie in state on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Klara was born in Germany on February 3, 1924, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Grete Pohlen. She came to the states in April of 1952, marrying her husband, Norman J. Carraher on August 16, 1952. Klara was a very talented person, she worked for Murray's decorating for years before opening her own drapery business. She also had a ceramic shop in Mt. Morris and taught sewing classes. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, making porcellin dolls, and above all, gambling. Left to cherish her memory are husband, Norm; two daughters, Heidi (Peter) Dowd of Montrose, and Rita (Albert) Smith of Clio; grandchildren, Kelsey (Dennis) Watson, Kerrie (Lonnie) Atwell, Brian Smith, Jason (Laurie) Smith, and Patrick (Lisa) Smith; great-grandchildren, Shane Heckman, Krystle Wright, Riley Smith, Tessa Watson, Abby Smith, and Addison and Alexis Smith; sister, Peggy Hoffman of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marita Gunther; brother, Friedal Pohlen; and her beloved son, Donald Patrick Carraher. The family would like to express a special thanks to Jane Painter, Doreen Persails, Marita Williams (niece), and Avalon Hospice for all the love and care they gave our wife and mother.
