Obituary of Melvin Schroeder

Of Vassar, age 78, died Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Tendercare Health Care Center of Frankenmuth.Cremation has taken place Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to St. MichaelAaas Lutheran School. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mel was born May 19, 1931 in Richville, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman and Lorna (Gugel) Schroeder. Mel loved collecting recipes, and sweets. Mel was a chef for many years at Frankenmuth Lamp Lighter before retiring. His passion for cooking continued on as a hobby. He loved cooking and baking for family gatherings and for his friends. Especially during Christmas. Mel would bake dozens of Christmas cookies, they would all have to be eatten that same day, and before anyone could leave. He leaves to cherish his memory sister, Elsie Marx; special nephew, Gary and wife, Donna Zwerk; godchildren; several nieces, nephews, and special friend, Patsy and husband, Daniel Schell. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Tendercare for all the love and care that they showered on to "Uncle Mel". Mel was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wilbert "Willie", sister, Arlene Zwerk, and his aunt, Emma.
