Obituary of George Logan Smith

Of Benzonia, formerly of Mt. Morris, age 72, died Friday, December 21, 2012. The funeral service will take place, Friday, December 28, 2012, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with burial to follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Friday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. George was born January 21, 1940, in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Riley and Arvie (Rowe) Smith. George worked for Chevy Truck and Bus for 26 years, before retiring 1991. He was a member of the UAW #598. George enjoyed the 21 years of retirement at his home in Benzonia. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren they put a smile on his face. George loved hosting family reunions at his home every summer. Left to cherish his memory are his four children, George Jr. and wife, Jan Smith, Brenda and husband, Darryl Kittell, Jeff and wife, Connie Smith and James and wife, Angel Smith; seven grandchildren, Kris, Jake, Zach, Clay, Cayla, Julianna, and Mi-Mi; beloved dog, Mickey; brother, Bob and wife, Doris Smith; two sisters, Sarah and husband, Dick Samuelson and Sandy Ayris; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Morris, Jim, Charles, Leslie and Francis; sisters, Mary, Lillian, Alice, Marie, MaryEllen and Beverly; and his dog, BO.
