Obituary of Elwyn C. Dobson

Of Vassar, age 90, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. Mary's of Michigan Saginaw. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Vassar United Methodist. Pastor Tyson Ferguson will officiate with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rainbow Connection or the Vassar First United Methodist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Elwyn was born June 29, 1922 in Clarkston, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester and Arlie (Ruddock) Dobson. He and Helen Rusecki were united in marriage November 25, 1941. He owned and operated Dobson Mobile Home Sales and Property Development in Vassar from 1958 to the present day. He was a former member of the Vassar Rotary Club and a past board member of Rainbow Connection. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 71 years, Helen; four children, Diane and husband Ronald Hartl, Joan and husband, Jonathan Bond, Cathy and husband, Ben Partridge, and Karyn and husband, Kurt Libbrecht; daughter-in-law, Janet Vernier; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and several step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ron and Jackie; two grandchildren, Timothy and Jennifer; and great-grandson, Jonathan.
