Obituary of Dennis John Murphy

Age 62, of Mt. Morris died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at McLaren-Flint. The funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 28, 2014, the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Dennis' family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Pastor Carl Petty will officiate with cremation to follow. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Dennis was born October 22, 1951, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William & Frances (Rutherford) Murphy. He married Brenda Chandler on September 14, 1984, in Flint. Dennis proudly served in the United States Army until he received his honorable discharge. He worked as a lineman for Bell Telephone for several years. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren, reading and going to Tai Chi Classes. Left to cherish his memory are, wife Brenda; five children, Matthew (Jean) Murphy, Molly Murphy, Mickey (Lien) Murphy, Adrian Dennis and Joni Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren, Jean Marie, Desmond, Brooklyn, Brandon, Jada, Karsyn, Chandler, Michelle, Sidney, Emelia, Audrey and Megan; two brothers, Timothy (Joan) Murphy and Robert Murphy; mother-in-law and special friend, Mattie Chandler, family dog, Julio and many other family members and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
